Proactive-Reactive Global Scaling, with Analytics

AbstractIn this work, we focus on by-design global scaling, a technique that, given functional specification of microservice architecture, orchestrates the scaling all its components, avoiding cascading slowdowns typical uncoordinated, mainstream autoscaling. State-of-the-art adopts reactive approach to traffic fluctuations, undergoing inefficiencies due reaction overhead. Here, tackle problem by proposing proactive version able anticipate future actions. We provide four contributions in direction: i) platform host both and scaling; ii) implementation based data analytics; iii) hybrid solution that mixes iv) use cases empirical benchmarks, obtained through our platform, compare reactive, proactive, performance.
